Nandu Rasam / Crab Soup
A Hot Soup that goes well with rice.
It really helps when you want to get rid of common cold.
Best served with rice or you can filter it and drink it as such.
Things Needed:
1. Prep all your ingredients
2.Freshly grate coconut and make a thin milk by adding enough water
3. Make a paste of poppy seeds, cashew, few curry leaves, 1tsp cumin seed, 3 to 4 garlic cloves and ginger. Keep aside. You can make a coarse or smooth paste.
4. Now its time to cook. Heat a kadai, Add oil (preferably gingelly oil). Add in the whole garam masala's after the oil heats up a bit. Cook for a minute or two until the curry leaves crisp up.
5. Add in the onions and green chillies and cook until onions turn translucent. Add crushed garlic and cook for while. Pour in some water just enough to soak the goodies in the kadai and let it boil.
6. Add chopped tomato, The ground green paste we make in step 3 and cook well. add some more water if needed and bring to a boil.
7. Crush 1 tsp whole black pepper, fennel and cumin, add them to the boiling masala's. Add a tsp of ghee (optional). Kee cooking until all the masala's are well cooked and oil oozes out .
8. Now its time to add the king of the dish... CRAB. Mix the crab with the rasam masala thats cooking, add in some water and let it cook for about 10 minutes.
9. Add the thin coconut milk, Sprinkle chopped coriander stem and allow it to foam up. Taste for salt and remove kadai from flame.

- Whole Garam masala's - 2 each (cinnamon, clove, cardamon, black pepper, curry leaves, dried red chillies, cumin seeds and fennel )
- Small Onion - 5 to 6 (sliced)
- Tomato - 1 (chopped)
- Green chillies - 2 large (sliced, scale up to taste)
- Oil- 2 tbsp
- Crab - 2 large (wash well, clean, apply turmeric and keep aside)
- Fennel - 1 tbsp
- Whole black pepper - 1 tbsp

- Ginger - a small slice
- Curry leaves - 2 sprigs

- Cashews - 2 or 3
